Zoos as socially constructed institutions in changing social and territorial contexts
Nekolný, Lukáš ; Fialová, Dana (advisor) ; Šantrůčková, Markéta (referee) ; Boltižiar, Martin (referee)
This dissertation deals with research of the zoo as a social construct, which in its history and form represents the development of the relationship between society and nature, or man and animals. At the same time, it is a specific cultural landscape reflecting other changes in paradigms and needs in society. The current form of zoos has always reflected various economic, political, environmental and cultural aspects, or opinion and spatial changes of society. This work is a contribution to the discussion of the application of thematization typical of contemporary experience-oriented society. The aim of the thesis is to characterize the development of zoos and their current form in Europe, where this concept originated at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, and to discuss regional differences regarding the different geographical context of the post-socialist space. From the geographical point of view, this is a topic rarely addressed so far, both from a theoretical (the zoo as an example of the specific landscape) as well as a regional approach. The first part provides a theoretical framework by means of a discussion of scientific literature and formulating the starting points of the research based on selected concepts and paradigms (social constructivism, the relationship between man and...
Design and implementation of a control unit for the aquarium environment
Petrák, Lukáš ; Formánek, Martin (referee) ; Krejčí, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the design and implementation of a prototype control unit for controlling the internal environment of an aquarium. The aim of this work is to create a device that will control the aquarium lighting using available LED strips of different colors, as well as maintain the aquarium water temperature within the range set by the user. It will then record on an SD card the progress of the lighting, the water temperature from the three sensors and the time when these values were obtained. These measurements can be retrieved and the device can be controlled via a web interface from a standard browser. The device should realizable from commonly available modules and components and its parameters should satisfy both the beginner and the advanced aquarist who, from the analysis of the measured values of the aquarium's internal environment, will adjust the control unit according to his needs.
Microcontroller based aquarium control system with WWW server
Večeřa, Jaroslav ; Kaczmarczyk, Václav (referee) ; Bradáč, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis is focused on design and commissioning of appliance for operating and status display in the aquarium. The first part of the thesis deals with the possibilities of solving particular problems of the system and defines the requirements which the system has to fulfil. The next section of the thesis describes design of hardware part of the system and its software.
PH controller for aquarium
Dvořák, Jan ; Fedra, Zbyněk (referee) ; Šebesta, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the system which is designed as a pH regulator for aquarium water. The first and second chapter are aims to the basic requirements and possibilities on controlling of the potential of hydrogen in water. Main methods of the pH measuring, its controlling and regulation are included. The third chapter presents a design of the pH regulator system. The practical and software solution of this project is presented in the fourth and fifth chapter. There are described in detail the main blocks of the pH regulator - amplifier, galvanic isolator and output power stage. The results of the testing and measuring of the designed subsystems are introduced in the last part of the work.
Microcontroller based aquarium control system
Gothard, Adolf ; Štohl, Radek (referee) ; Bradáč, Zdeněk (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis deals with design of automatic aquarium control system, equipped with microcontroller AT89C51ED2 and simple user interface. After opening introduction to systems, usually used for aquarium automation, there is described design of such device. First, it is selection of components and concept of their electrical connections. Next part is devoted to realisation and found problems and their removing. The last part is devoted to design and creation of program equipment of the control system. This part shows basic principles of control program and structure of it’s main parts. Low-level functions for communication with peripheral devices are also described.
Automated environmental support system for aquarium
Slavotínek, Jan ; Honec, Peter (referee) ; Petyovský, Petr (advisor)
The thesis is devoted to analysis of parameters and processes in aquarium, in order to design system for control, regulation and monitoring the most important of them. In theoretical part of thesis are defined terms and basic knowledge necessary for successful analysis, some of them are marginally reaching into different science discipline (biology, zoology, engineering, etc.). The thesis contains a part focused on analysis of common operation and requirements connected with prospering aquarium. In this part are determined common ranges of values, limitations and requirements on safety operation of system, if necessary. Following chapters of thesis are devoted to design hardware and software solution of particular system, ensuring control, regulation and monitoring of variables and processes determined as critical.
Design of a complex automated system for aquarists
Hedvíček, Michal ; Kunz, Jan (referee) ; Uher, Miroslav (advisor)
Thesis deals with the theoretical design of an automatic control system for the aquarium and following simulation software environment Proteus ISIS. Due to simulation program can verify the behavior of the microprocessor in the specified functions, the correctness of electrical connections and errors in source code. The second part is analysis of commercial systems, their characteristics and applications. Apart from available commercial systems, there is a basic overview of commonly used peripherals in the aquarium, including their comparison and evaluation. Furthermore, the implementation of a complex system is done and the procedures and methods needed to set up the system are described. This topic also deals with cooling and reliability tests.
The system for regulation of the environmental conditions in the aquariums
Janda, Josef ; Jaroš, David (referee) ; Macháň, Ladislav (advisor)
This thesis project describes the design and construction of an automated system for maintaining live conditions in aquarium. The main purpose of the system is to automate certain procedures and to ensure control of important environmental parameters of artificial breeding of aquarium animals and plants. The device regulates lighting, temperature, CO2 concentration and other parameters. The LCD with touch screen is used to system control and to display measured values.
Proposals of Practical Excercises in Zoology Based on Protists and Invertebrates from Freshwater Aquaria
Talavášková, Barbora ; Mourek, Jan (advisor) ; Říhová, Dagmar (referee)
This thesis deals with proposals for practical exercises using freshwater aquaria in teaching elementary schools and junior high schools that focus on protozoa and invertebrates. The main aim of the thesis is to propose practical exercises using elements of inquiry-based science education. Using identification cards of protozoa and microscopic invertebrates, pupils can learn about these organisms during laboratory exercises with microscopes. A total of fourteen cards with representatives of protozoa, invertebrates, algae and cyanobacteria typical of freshwater aquariums are presented. Each of the identification cards contains a basic description, as well as a procedure for the pupils to observe and draw the organism. They are accompanied by a photograph, a pen drawing and a QR code that links to a video of the observation of the representative under the microscope. Another proposal is a practical exercise focusing on the food chain of standing water. Also included is a worksheet focusing on independent laboratory work by students on water quality analysis using the Pasco laboratory technique. The contribution of this work is the actual experience of setting up a school freshwater aquarium. The process of setting up the aquarium and investigating it is described in this thesis. The succession of...
Aguarium. A Set of Art lessons for 1st Grade of Elementary School. (theoretical-project thesis)
ZELENDOVÁ, Markéta
The presented theoretical and project diploma thesis was aimed at developing an art project AQUARIUM, during the Art Education lessons in the first level of elementary school. It is structured in two parts, a theoretical one and a practical one. The theoretical part defines the therms and processes available literature on the topic. The project part of the thesis consists of eleven proposed art lessons and also deals with the documentation, implementation and reflection of the proposed teaching units. The diploma thesis is followed with pictorial annexes related to the theoretical part, photo documentation of lessons and proposed structured preparation.
